My Diary
I was born sometime in mid November to a breeder. My yorkie parents were just as gorgeous as I am now.
My Lady knew I was the "one" because I was curious and alert. Bold... Just like my dad. I scampered right up to her because something told me she was the "one", too! I arrived at my home one afternoon, just a few days before Thanksgiving.
To make myself feel at home, I cuddled up like a ball in my blankie for the first time and peeked my little head out from underneath. My housemate is Coco. He's a charming, sweet-voiced cockatiel, and we get along just fine. He sang me to sleep my first night. I can get along with cats, too. So long as they don't try and upset my bird!
Some names that were considered for me were Babe, Baby, Bella, Sadie, Marie, Sweetie, & Tinkerbelle. But I'm happy my Lady decided on Mimsy. I think it captures everything all those names say, while perfectly capturing the personality of a special little Yorkie like me.
Luckily, my Lady had studied our breed and was ready to take on the responsibility of a special dog like me. It has been an adventure of a lifetime, the two of us... Learning from each other, testing each other, appreciating one another in new ways everyday.
I was quite a challenge to housetrain, I'm sure, but I'll be doggoned if I wasn't fun to teach! My Lady taught me the proper place to make my messes and she lavished me with hugs and kisses in return. I've been trained to respond to words, 'Sit'; 'Come, girl'; 'Good girl?'; 'Bye-bye?'; 'Hungry?'; 'Bath?'; 'Ice cream?'; 'Cookie?'; 'Popcorn?'; 'French fries?' (a lot of other food questions, but those last three really make my ears perk!) I also respond to 'No!'... Sometimes... My most endearing habits are all the cute expressions I can make. I should've been an actress. The Shirley Temple of Yorkies. My Lady rewards my good behavior with lots of hugs and kisses, words of praise, and cookies. My most annoying habits are whining (though others think my whining is kinda cute). Others might say I bark too much. But what Yorkie doesn't bark, time to time? The naughtiest thing I've ever done was when I was really little. I was just a few months old and I swallowed my soft toothbrush. The toothpaste tasted so good, I thought it was food! I was awful sick for awhile.
Whenever I'm bad, my Lady calls me 'bad girl'. But I'm not bad that often. My behavior hasn't changed since puppyhood. I'll always be a puppy at heart. On a scale of 1 to 10, my Yorkie I.Q. is definitely over ten. I'm more than your average Yorkie. No one can pull one over me. On a scale of 1 to 10, my obedience level is ten. Others may say otherwise, but I say ten. I'm a good Yorkie!
I wake up between six and seven o'clock. My Lady brings me to my futon chair and I catch a few more winks in my blankie. Coco's cage is right nearby, so he keeps me company and sometimes sings to me as my Lady get ready to start her day. Me and my Lady usually wake up at the same time. If not, I'll give a little whimper and paw at her a little.
After my nap on the futon, I'll patrol the house a bit. Maybe take another nap or two. Often times I'll skip lunch. Instead, I'll play late into the afternoon. Sometimes, I'll take my post at the top of the living room sofa to keep an eye on things. Then, I'll keep my Lady company in the kitchen as she cooks dinner. As evening falls, I'll play a little more. Then, as it gets dark -- it's time for ni-night!
My favorite time of day with my Lady is just before bedtime. She holds me like a baby and asks me how my day has been -- what I've eaten, what I've been up to, how good or bad I've been. Sometimes, we'll play a little bit, too. I make my Lady laugh when I pounce at her and spin about, with my paws forward, my hind end up, and tail wagging. My Lady's bed is my most favorite place to hang out... Playing hide and seek amongst the comforter, sheets, and pillows... Still, I like to traipse the house all over.
I don't exercise all that much. Exercise means sweat. And sweat means one more bath than necessary. And I only need one bath a week (unless it's hot, then I'll take two). My Lady would say I stay clean for only about thirty seconds after a bath, cause I start rolling and rubbing myself about the floor right after she's finished drying me off. But I'm still clean! My Lady grooms me. And even though I fidget a little when my nails get clipped, I behave myself. I get more cookies that way! I like the ends of being bathed and brush, I just don't really enjoy the means.
Sometimes I get annoyed when I'm teased after I've had enough, or if I'm tired. I really hate knocks at the door and doorbell rings. Some things that frighten me are loud, sudden noises and big, mangy dogs. But if they give me trouble, you bet I'll put up a fight. I don't let anybody push me around.
My Lady loves dressing me, cause I look so cute dressed up (don't you think?) My favorite outfit is an aqua blue jumpsuit and hood with pink and yellow stripes on the white cuffs. It's very comfy and fits me perfect. I don't like it much when clothes are uncomfortable though. My Lady once tried to get me tiny boots for my paws (to keep them from getting cold in the winter). But they made me walk kinda funny. I have a couple of jeweled collars that I wear when I go out and on walks. One of them has pretty pink pastel charms she bought at Victoria Secret. That's right Victoria Secret! One of my Lady's favorite stores. A princess like me should have a little VS, too! For dresses, my favorite colors are hot pink, magenta, fuchsia, red, palm tree greens, Caribbean blues -- tropical hues. For jewelry, I have a taste for 14 karat gold. Gold! Like me!
My favorite foods are french fries, ice cream, popcorn, and BBQ rib bones. My eyes are big, but my tummy is small. Yes, I beg... I guess... But people food tastes so good! If I've been good and finished up what's in my dish, I'll get a taste. I have a beautiful set of engraved dishes -- one for water, another for kibbles, and the last for dessert.
To celebrate my first birthday, my Lady bought me a cute little mocha roll cake and put a candle in it. I got some pictures taken sitting behind it. Little doggies can't have chocolate, so my guests ate it for me... It's the thought that counts, you know! And it's been a tradition ever since. I've received too many presents for me to count. But I know I loved, ate, or played with every single one.
I also celebrate my Lady's birthday, Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, Mother's Day, Easter, Fourth of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years. I'll wear festive ribbons and clothes. I like a collar of bells around me every Christmas so I go jingling everywhere I go. Sometimes, me and my pet pals give and receive presents, too... I love the holidays! I get to sample a little bit of everything from the delicious dishes my Lady cooks.
When it's cold outside, I like to take naps beside the bathroom heater. It's so nice and warm there. And after everyone's done getting ready, it's nice and quiet. At the start of spring, everything's so pretty. I like going outside a lot more. Take a couple of walks. Ride in my Lady's top-down sportscar. Everything's so green and fresh and new.
In the hot summertime, our dining room has a nice wood floor where I like to sprawl out. The blinds cut the sun into thin slices of light and shade, so it's not too hot and not too cold. In autumn, when the leaves start to turn, I like to get a little dirty. I love dashing through a pile of autumn leaves, feeling them crinkle under my paws.
When my Lady goes out, I usually stay home, guard the house, and keep Coco company. When my Lady goes on vacation, I usually go along with her. I think my Lady thinks of me a lot when she's away. Just as much as I think of her. When me and my Lady go on walks, a lot of people pay attention. We're both very pretty, you see. People say I'm the cutest, most adorable thing they've ever seen. And you know what? They're right. I love the attention I get. But I get a little picky though about who gets to pet me. If I don't like you, I'll bare my teeth.
I know it's mischievous of me, but whenever there's company around, I like to tease and bark at them... just to see how they'll react. I'm only fooling. Sometimes I bare my teeth and wag my tail all the while! I love children. They're so much like me in many ways. Just so long as they don't try petting me all at once (and muss up my fur)!
I love going bye-bye, riding in my Lady's car. I get to see so many things. There's so many places to go! People to see! My Lady bought me my own little car seat, so I can ride shotgun in her BMW sportscar. I don't make much of a navigator cause I'm not too good with directions, but I do warn my Lady of suspicious looking characters.
Let's see... I've taken a ride on an airplane, too! I got aboard in my Lady's Louie Vuitton dog carrier bag. I sat on her lap, and because I was so small, I was able to hide under the little blue blankies they had aboard. I napped most of the time, but the sensations of take-off and landing are something I won't ever forget... the noise... the rumble beneath my paws... different to say the least.
I've been to Disneyland. Well, I got to see a bit of Main Street and the monorail on my way to the Kennel Club. I wish I could go inside and see Critter Country. I'd like to see the Country Bears and Winnie the Pooh. Mickey Mouse, too! It's so unfair they won't let me in!
I've been to Wisconsin and Minnesota, too. I remember it was winter. There was a lot of snow and ice about. And it was cold! I had to bundle myself up tightly to keep my toe-sies warm. I got to walk around the Mall of America with my Lady. They had a really cute doggy shop with doggy trinkets (some things for birdies and kitties, too). There was even a theme park inside -- I could hear the roller coasters! Closest I ever got to a theme park.
The things that make me happy are my Lady's hugs and kisses, seeing my loved ones come home, Coco's singing, my toys. My favorite toys are rawhide chips, rawhide bones, and balls. I love playing tug of war, fetch, catch me if you can, keep away.
Really though, nothing is sweeter than cuddling up with my Lady or in my blankie. I never snore... I'm sure I don't! You can tell when I'm dreaming though, cause I start to make funny little whimpers and kick my tiny legs out a bit. I can't tell you what my dreams are about though. It's a secret! If I told you my little doggie dreams, they might not come true!
But me? I couldn't have asked for a better Lady. She's made all my dreams come true. I love her, and I know she loves me, too!
